We are looking for indigenous contributors to this website - especially this section. Whilst our purpose for the indigenous modernism project is one of learning and exploration for all, we wish to be very careful to avoid any hint of appropriation, and strive first and foremost to be a place for the voice of indigenous people. IllumiNative is a Native woman-led racial and social justice organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of - and challenging the narrative about - Native peoples. Their website is full of inspiring, powerful and dynamic resources.
The six-part Tending the Wild series shines light on the environmental knowledge of indigenous peoples across California by exploring how they have actively shaped and tended the land for millennia, in the process developing a deep understanding of plant and animal life. This series examines how humans are necessary to live in balance with natureand how traditional practices can inspire a new generation of Californians to tend their environment. The Halluci Nation is a Canadian electronic music group who blend instrumental hip hop, reggae, moombahton and dubstep-influenced dance music with elements of First Nations music. They made this song available for free to be used for anyone working to defend the Wet’suwet’en territories and all action that defend the right of Indigenous land sovereignty and to promote a true nation to nation discussion between the Indigenous nations of Turtle Island and Canadian settlers.
